Erin is a fellow podcast lover who I found on Instagram. She has a special place in my heart because she has ALS and she is in her twenties. This is just like my brother, Ryan, who Also diagnosed with ALS in his twenties. I knew that I had to have her on my show to talk about some of her favorite podcasts which are true crime podcasts.
This month all of my episodes are centered around the ALS community. It has been so much fun introducing you to the inspiring and lovely people that are in the ALS community, including Erin.
Today you get to meet Erin and hear all about her favorite podcasts. Erin’s favorite shows are true crime podcasts. Since those are not my favorite genre, I don’t talk about them very much on my show. I’m excited to have someone on the show to introduce you to some good true crime podcasts.

I Am ALS
The I AM ALS Community is an amazing group of people that helps the ALS community in countless ways. One of my goals in life is to be able to donate a thousand dollars a month to ALS research. This money will help find better treatments and a cure for ALS. While I’m not able to do that just yet, I know that the money I do donate to the I AM ALS community is doing so much good. If you want to help the ALS community, a simple but amazing way for you to do that is to donate to I AM ALS.
I AM ALS is a patient led community that provides critical support and resources to those living with ALS, as well as caregivers and loved ones. They raise awareness and advocate for the ALS community’s needs. They’ve also been able to increase federal funding for ALS research. I am ALS has also helped revolutionize the development of treatments and cures for ALS.
A Fan of True Crime Podcasts
I’m Erin and I currently live in Southern California. I’m an avid reader, I read probably like two to three books a week. Cats are another thing that I love along with the outdoors. Houseplants are my favorite and I probably like 30. I studied botany in college, so I’m kind of a botanist. I’ve only had one job to attest to that. In the online world I am currently known for being a really young person with ALS.
I got into podcasts about four years ago. At the time I was a delivery driver and I was driving around for eight hours a day. Sometimes music wasn’t enough and someone asked if I’d tried podcasts. I hadn’t but I decided to give them a try.
I got addicted. There are so many good podcasts, you can never run out of them. I quickly found that true crime podcasts were my favorite.
Crime Junkie
The first true crime podcast that I got into was Crime Junkie. They have been around for a really long time, there are over 360 episodes. I started listening to it because of my manager. I went on a couple of deliveries with him and he was playing that show and I asked what it was. There’s so much drama and murder in the show, how do you not love that? I listened to them for a long time. They have a couple of different types of episodes. They have ones that are missing persons cases, serial killers, and then regular murder cases.
Serial Killing: A Podcast
The next true crime podcast I recommend is called, Serial Killing: A Podcast. I started listening really early on in her career, around episodes 50 or 60. She started by focusing on serial killers but she started branching out. She has a really good voice but she talks a little slow. I have to listen to her on 1.5 speed. On the podcast she mainly states facts, but occasionally she puts her own opinions into it. I really like her, but the one thing is that she talks a little slow.
The Tiny Meat Gang Podcast
The third podcast recommendation, surprisingly enough, isn’t a true crime podcast. It’s called, The Tiny Meat Gang Podcast. They have been around also for a while. It’s two friends and they’re really good at bantering off each other. Their bits are so funny. I’ve listened to them on long road trips and there have been some points where I had to pull over because I was crying, laughing.
Connect with Erin
I am on Instagram, you can find me at Unsteady and Ready. When you have ALS, you fall over a lot, but I’m ready to take on the world. I do have a TikTok, but I don’t post on it. It’s the same name as Instagram.
