Three Excellent Podcasts my Five Year Old Loves

Have you ever tried to get a five year old to sit still and talk into a microphone without touching it?  Let’s just say it was an adventure getting my daughter, Clara, to do this interview with me. She desperately wanted to be like her brother and have her own episode where she got to talk about her favorite podcasts. Enjoy hearing about these excellent podcasts from my five year old!

Excellent Podcasts from Clara

Shortly after I started making my podcast two years ago, Clara started carrying around a notebook and pencil and telling everyone she was working on her podcast. She had watched me take notes and make lists for my podcast in all of my notebooks. I usually have at least two within grabbing distance at all times. She wanted to be like mom and have her own podcast.  I’m so excited that she is finally making her debut on my podcast to give her practice for when she starts her own podcast. This will most likely much earlier than when I started mine. I’m sure you’re going to fall in love with Clara and all of the excellent podcasts that she recommendations.

Guide to Kid Podcasts

I use kid podcasts all the time as a mom, and you can too. You can use them when you’re running errands with the kiddos to keep them from complaining the whole time, or when you need a mom break, you can just grab an easy activity like coloring pages or magnet tiles, turn on a kid podcast, and your kids will be entertained for at least half an hour.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg of ways you can use kid podcasts. And to help you figure out which one is best for your kids, I made a guide to kid podcasts.  There are eight categories ranging from science, to mindfulness, to audio drama, with at least three podcasts in each category. There are 28 podcasts in total on the guide.

I’ve listened to each of the podcasts so I can attest to them being kid friendly, and I put my email at the bottom of the guide so that if you try a couple with your kids and none of them are a good fit, you can email me and I will personally help you find a kid podcast that works for your littles, and you. You can grab this guide at the link at the top of this blog.

Pixel Quest

Pixel Quest has a guy that is only on level one and he’s trying to get more stuff. A guy named Glitch is a time twister and he wants to take over the world.  I like Pixel Quest because it has funny parts about Pork. He’s a fairy and he got trapped in one of Glitch’s crystals. Pork is a funny character.

Snoop and Sniffy

Snoop and Sniffy has a character that is named Snoop. He’s a dog that talks. The humans can’t understand him. He goes on cases and works with his partner, Sniffy. He’s similar but chunkier and more fun. He gets lots of sleep but always tells Snoop,  don’t want to sleep. In the morning Snoop loves finding Sniffy sleeping.

Freckles is another dog that lives at the Fire Station and her partner is named Iggy, Then Paul, who isn’t a firefighter yet, came to the station. The gnomes couldn’t talk, but you have to listen to the episode to find out what happens.

The gnome episode is my favorite.

Story Train

Story Train is a place when you go on a train and hear a story. That’s why it’s called Story Train. I usually listen to it at bedtime. My favorite Story Train episode is Rainbow Horse. There’s a horse and it’s rainbow, I like the color rainbow.

Tips for Parents For Using Excellent Podcasts

Parents should look at Storybutton and Mr. Jim. Mr. Jim makes the best podcasts. He has the Puzzables podcast which is fun too. You get a little black bag, and the little mystery animal. You get to open it up at the end of the podcast and then you’ll find the answer.

Excellent Podcast Recap

Isn’t Clara’s energy contagious? She is so much fun.  I’ve got a little bit more information about Clara’s three excellent podcasts to help you further decide on if they will be a good fit for your kiddos.

Pixel Quest is the first one she talked about. It takes place in a video game and there is a fun and hilarious cast of characters that you will fall in love with. Next was Snoop and Sniffy, which is like Sherlock Holmes and Watson, but in dog form. They solve a case during each episode and get into shenanigans along the way.

The last one is Story Train. This podcast is a great one for bedtime. Each episode is a sweet story that can help your littles calm down for bed.

This is actually the last episode I’ll be releasing for a little while. I’m taking the summer off to relax and rejuvenate and get ready for the fall. I hope you have a delightful summer.

If you’re needing a dose of the friendly podcast guide during this break, I have more than a hundred episodes for you to go back and listen to. You’ll also catch me on Instagram over the summer.
