Rate or Review The Friendly Podcast Guide

Would you rate and review the friendly podcast guide as a gift to me, for my birthday, the two main places to do that are on apple podcasts and Spotify. It would mean so much to me. If you could give me a positive review, I read every single one and they make my heart so happy.

Introduction to Dom & The Going North Podcast

My name is Dom Brightman, host of the going north podcast, certified leadership training with the Maxwell leadership team and bestselling author. The book Stay the Course: The Elite Performer’s 7 Secret Keys to Sustainable Success. And my life mantra is: advance others to advance yourself.

So starting the podcast, it actually was a goal of mine for years on end. I actually heard my first podcast back in 2010 or 2011, one of those years, I was still going to college back then going for IT degree. Because folks for years been telling me, Hey, you got this radio voice. And I’m like, okay, well I guess I should use it for something.

And then I was like, I think it was around 2013 or 2014 around that time. I was like, after listening to a few guys on this show called the O show back in a day, Basically have these two hour shows every Thursday, it was like something I love to look forward to every week. Like they were going strong for a few years and then they just fell off and folks grew on and did different parts of life and all the other good stuff.

And I was like, you know what? I should start a podcast. And then come two years later, 2016. . I get this wonderful challenge to write a book. I was actually dared to write a book. I was given these wonderful, inspirational talks and sharing these lists for people called the 100 books or dynamic living and being dared to write a book.

And after actually taking that dare on I launched the book October, I believe 2016. Then had a wonderful setback where my father passed away March, 2017 in the middle of me launching that book and then went through some setbacks and realized, oh, maybe I should get back to marketing my book.

Now, what should I do now? Oh yeah, that podcast thing. So it was a nice little side quest that led back to the main quest that eventually became the going north podcast, where I had to view a bunch of authors across the globe. Give them a platform to get their voices heard and to promote their work. Because one thing that I needed as an author is just places to really promote my stuff and podcasts are a great way to do it. And it’s so easy. Oh, I wouldn’t say easy, easy  but it’s it. It’s doable. It’s not like Mount Everest, but it’s doable.

What to Expect from The Going North Podcast

What I want people to get outta my podcast is that success is tangible no matter where you are, no matter where you come from. The youngest guest had on my show at the time of this recording was around 14 years old, where during the pandemic, she had a bunch of books written that she published about two of them all the way to, I believe a therapist who’s around 81 years old, who has a bunch of award winning bestselling books.

So. Across the spectrum across the board, no matter where you come from, no matter which your skin color is, success is tangible for you. And when you write a book, you’re joining the business of immortality because you’re leaving a piece of yourself for folks to look at long after you’re gone. And really just having that piece of yourself.

Here on this earth and promoting that work and realizing that, Hey, I can do this thing is just really one. I want folks to leave with no matter where you come from, no matter what your upbringing is, because from the Crats of the grave, we lead ourselves the longest. And if you lead your life good enough to where you can at least leave something as a gift for other people to consume. It’s always good to realize that, Hey, you can do it.

The Vibe of The Going North Podcast

The vibe of the show is a nice, smooth jazz vibe. It’s like a Paul hard castle CD. It’s like looking up some smooth jazz tunes on YouTube with the touch of J K pop. You know, I like misdirection every now and then with the guests, because I got this wonderful question.

I ask guests probably around I’d say 75% in the conversation. Like. If your book was a food, what would it be? And a lot of folks are like what the hell? What kinda question is that? Cuz it’s really all about keeping it, keeping it lighthearted and playful because in this reality that we’re in nowadays, there’s a lot of pain that a lot of people are going through.

And my podcast, I want it to be a hub where folks can, if they can get a slice of playfulness, lightheartedness, In their day, because like, I usually try to laugh with every guest and get ’em in a good mood. And sometimes we laugh silly before we even press the record button. So it’s really all about a nice chill, lighthearted mood.

If they get, if they get a laugh out of it. That’s great. If not, I still get laughs out of probably 98% of the interviews anyway.

Dom’s Favorite Episode

Episode one thousand’s gonna be my favorite episode because I have a growth goal for the show at the time of this recording of about 500. Yeah, 518 episodes in. Up there and wow. Counting all the bonus episodes. I’m about 680 episodes in and a growth goal for the show is to interview over 1000 different authors across the globe.

And about halfway there. So episode 1000 is definitely Gonna be my favorite episode because it’s a real goal and it’s something I’m shooting for. And if anyone wants to check out some other episodes that have been well received, you can get over to going north podcast.com. I mean, at the top of the bar, there’s at least 10 different, wonderful episodes that were featured and folks really liked a lot.

I’m not sure what I’ll do for the thousandth episode, probably a big party or something to invite all the guests like a big shin dig. Hopefully things will be a lot more closer to 2019 than 2020. By that time, hopefully, definitely do a big fat giveaway.

Interviewing all these authors I’ve collected a lot of the books, so it’s probably gonna be a big, Hey, win your ongoing north podcast library. It won’t be like every single book, but it’ll be a lot of books and that’ll be a big shipping cost from yours truly.
